Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: November 2025

Last Revised: November 5, 2025

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your membership and participation in the South Carolina Emerging Technology Association (SCETA) and its related events, websites, and services. By joining SCETA, submitting payment, or engaging with our programs, you agree to these Terms and any related policies referenced herein.

1. Membership and Termination

1.1 Acceptance and Duration

Membership becomes active on the date SCETA approves your application and receives full payment (“Effective Date”). Membership remains valid for one (1) year from that date and renews automatically unless cancelled prior to renewal.

1.2 Termination by SCETA

SCETA may, at its sole discretion:

  • Terminate a membership within five (5) days of activation, returning any membership fees paid for that period.

  • Terminate membership for failure to comply with SCETA’s Bylaws, Code of Ethics, or these Terms.

If a breach occurs:

  • SCETA will notify the member in writing.

  • The member will generally have ten (10) days to correct (cure) any issue that can reasonably be corrected.

  • If the breach is not cured within that period—or is deemed serious enough to harm SCETA’s mission, reputation, or integrity—the Board of Directors may vote to terminate the membership immediately.

1.3 Termination by Member

Members may resign their membership at any time by written notice. Resignation does not entitle the member to any refund of fees paid for the current membership term.

1.4 Effect of Termination

Upon termination or resignation, the individual or organization immediately loses all rights and privileges associated with membership, including access to SCETA events, resources, and networks.

2. Payments and Refund Policy

2.1 Membership Fees

All membership fees are billed annually in U.S. Dollars (USD) and may be displayed with an equivalent cryptocurrency value (e.g., Bitcoin).

SCETA reserves the right to adjust membership rates or correct pricing errors at any time, even after an order or renewal has been submitted.

2.2 Accepted Payment Methods

SCETA accepts payment by:

  • Credit or debit card

  • Cash or check

  • Bitcoin (BTC) or other approved digital currencies

All transactions are denominated in USD.
If you pay with Bitcoin, your payment represents the USD value of the transaction at the time of purchase.

2.3 Refunds

  • Membership fees are non-refundable once a new membership period begins.

  • If SCETA terminates a membership within five (5) days of activation, a full refund will be issued.

  • In all other cases, refunds are not issued for resignation, early cancellation, or expulsion.

If a refund is approved and payment was made in Bitcoin, you may choose to receive the refund in BTC at the USD equivalent value originally paid — not the current BTC market value.

3. Event Payments and Cancellations

Due to commitments with venues and third-party partners, event-related fees (such as Bitcoin Genesis Day, Bitcoin Pizza Day, and similar SCETA-hosted events) follow these conditions:

  • Refunds are not available within fourteen (14) days of the event date.

  • Refund requests made more than 14 days prior to the event may be submitted in writing to orders@sceta.io.

  • Substitutions or transfers of event tickets may be considered at SCETA’s discretion.

4. Code of Conduct

All members and participants are expected to uphold SCETA’s values of respect, professionalism, and ethical engagement.
Harassment, discrimination, or behavior that undermines SCETA’s mission will result in disciplinary action, including potential suspension or termination of membership without refund.

5. Limitation of Liability

Participation in SCETA activities, events, or online platforms is voluntary.
SCETA, its affiliates, officers, and directors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from participation, membership, or the use of its services.

6. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed under the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
